Common App FAQs

Am I at a disadvantage if I apply through the Common App?

No. Our evaluation process is the same whether you apply using the Common App or the Rutgers Application. Rutgers does not have a preference for which application you use, but you should only apply using one application platform. On August 15, Rutgers will open our CommunityID portal for students using the Common App. You will receive an email at that time with instructions for creating your Rutgers CommunityID. This ID allows you access to the Rutgers Application Portal, where you can monitor the progress of your application. Please do not attempt to log in or create an account until you receive that email.

Am I allowed to submit both the Common App and the Rutgers application for the same admission year?

No. You should only apply using one application platform.

How do I select the individual Rutgers schools on the Common App?

When applying to Rutgers University through the Common App, please select Rutgers University as your school.
